Not the cover! (I wish! Lol.)
A few months back, I was asking a friend who works for FHM if there is any way I could "work" for them. The magazine's known to cater mostly men readers (For Him Magazine, duh), so my question turned out what seems to be joke. But what I really meant was if I could write for FHM.
I have no plans in looking for a new job. All I wanted was to try a different platform because being in the newspaper scene for 3 years now, never did I have a chance to write for a monthly magazine.
He laughed it off and said "We'll see."
After quite some time, he chatted me up on Facebook and asked if I was still up for writing a story for them. Of course, the answer "Game!"
(I have to clarify that our company doesn't restrict us in this cases for as long as it's not a close competitor.)
I was kinda expecting something that would challenge my knowledge on discussing "adult" topics (See: kinky, sexy, not wholesome, R-18 type), but instead, he assigned me to write about a thing that's so close to my heart... and tummy.
Food.
The assignment required me to list down diet deliveries around the Metro and briefly explain their offerings. It was fun, especially the part when we did a food pictorial and enjoyed what my sources brought after wrapping up.
Two months after, the issue, with my story published, was released. (Apparently, that's how a magazine's cycle works.) My parents were more excited than I am as they were the first to get a copy. Hahaha.
That's one to tick off from my career bucket-list. Write for a men's magazine? Check.
